Memorial Day Weekend

Erin (33 weeks pregnant with twin girls), her son Connor (5 y), Layla (3.25 y) and I went to the Phoenix Zoo on the morning of Memorial Day. During the 2 1/2 hours spent at the zoo, the kids were either eating lunch or playing around at the splash cave. Erin has a year membership to the zoo located just a couple miles away which includes a couple guest passes. Short visits are very entertaining and cost effective play dates.  Thanks, E!

Shy kids.

Connor telling his mom all about his Capri Sun for about 15 minutes.

Layla loved watching the lioness (no picture) pace back in forth. She yelled, " It's Nala's Mom"! Connor couldn't stop talking about the wild dogs. He informed Layla that she couldn't take one with her. Pretty sure Layla wasn't interested in taking one home.

Connor made sure Layla held his hand through the parking lot. He shared a story that went right over Layla's head about a boy that was run over by a car in a parking lot. They were extra careful getting to our cars. We stopped at a local donut shop on our way home that offered free donuts on Memorial Day. Best donuts in town!

Later that evening, we invited friends over for a cookout; our second one of the weekend. The day before, a family of six came over to swim and eat dinner.  It was just the right amount of busy! The kids love company. Almost every day, Layla asks if any "friends" are coming over. Her "friends'" ages range from 33 to 3 years old.
