Fall and Winter months feel like Spring time out here in the desert. There is new excitement in the air to get out and do more.
When it dropped down to the 80s, we blew out dust and leaves off the patio, rearranged out outside furniture, and brought out a few toys that were tucked away in the garage like a vinyl tunnel, drawing easel, water/sand table, craft supplies, side walk chalk, balls and bubbles. Joey and I also started brainstorming what new toys to pick up for the kids to play with outside this season. For starters, we've decided to buy a big girl bike with training wheels for Layla later this week. Stay tuned.
We didn't forget about Faven. Since Faven is too small to reach the pedals on Layla's Mickey Mouse tricycle, we borrowed my friend Erin's Cozy Coupe her 5 year wasn't using anymore. Faven hasn't quite gotten the hang of it or maybe she isn't tall enough to ride in it on her own. To move the car forward by herself, she stands up inside and walks straight up and down. Either way, the toy is getting a lot of good use by both girls. Faven likes to push Layla in it and put rocks and leaves in the trunk pocket the most.
Thankfully they go to a school that has a ton of great toys - which relieves some guilt of not having a bunch of fancy toys at home. In fact, their school is always applying for new grants and are awarded them often. They always seem to have a new shipment of educational learning tools which make the kids, teachers and parents happy. On most days, Layla asks me if she can stay longer when I pick her up from school. On many occasions, she asks if she can sleep over. I look at this as a good thing.
