Layla and Faven are certainly loved by many. Grandma Nani flew all the way from Ethiopia to spend 6 weeks with her only grandchildren when Faven was only a few months old. Grandpa Yoseph came to see us before his big trip back to Ethiopia, too. We also were lucky enough to have Aunt Kiddy, Cousin Matt and Aunt Muleya join in the fun. We truly had a full house. In fact, at one point we had 8 people sleeping in our house. I really do love company so more the merrier!!
Layla and Faven had a ball while the rents went back to work. Yes, this post is long overdue but won't be forgotten. The home cook meals were amazing, the house was clean, the girls were happy, and great conversations were endless. Joey and I even had a chance to go on little Arizona staycation and a few date nights out of the deal! The Yacobs and the Kifles are such caring and loving people and now its our turn to pay a visit to Ethiopia to visit family!
Our trip to Africa is almost official. Last Friday we went to the post office to order passports for the girls. After only one take, Layla took a professional looking passport picture showing her little pearly whites. Faven was a little started to see a stranger taking pictures of her. It took a few tries to get a shot of her without a stream of tears running down her face. Overall, she did really well even with a giant poop sitting in her diaper. There must be something special about sitting in a car seat. I was nervous that some of it would slip out of her diaper. It smelled bad enough.
Our plane ticket to Ethiopia should be booked by the end of the week. We found a straight flight to Washington, DC (4 1/2 hours) and another straight flight from DC to Ethiopia (16 hours straight). It will be undoubtedly a very difficult flight with two young kids under 3 years of age, but we are so happy that Aunt Kiddy will be with us. The girls adore her and we do, too.
We are so excited! It will be an experience of a life time and hopefully one of many trips to Africa!
