Both girls' swimming skills have improved a ton since May. The more they do it, the more confident they become. Although I taught swimming lessons to three year olds at the YMCA in high school, we still would like to get them both registered for swim classes this Fall.
Layla used to only swim with an inner tube, her "star", around her waist up until about a month ago. She is very proud of herself for only using her swimmies. Layla's positive reaction to her new found freedom rubbed off on Faven. One day, Faven put on an extra pair of swimmies and took a leap. She didn't want me around to keep her from tipping forward. These things are not safe for girls under 20 lbs (a.k.a. Faven). They probably aren't safe for most kids really. You can never be to safe around water. Joey and I are like hawks in the pool with the kids. For the longest time, I didn't even feel comfortable watching the kids in the pool without another adult around.

We usually swim in the mornings or evenings when most of our pool is shaded. We finally are at the point that we spend more time in the water than we do getting ready to go outside. This is a BIG deal!
After a dip in the pool, we usually offer them the hose to rinse off. Layla usually waters the grass instead. After tending to our artificial grass, they end up in our cooler...nudey. We sometimes give them baths in it, too!
