It's August. The month that never ends. We have lived in Arizona for over 7 years and when this particular month comes around we question why we still live here. It reached 118 degrees this week. Just pretend you are a chicken being slow roasted in the oven. Not sure if that's a good analogy because I'm a horrible cook. Think oven. It's hot. Dry, yes... but hot. What does that even mean, dry heat? It doesn't matter. It's terrible. Our pool is warmer than bath water. Yuck!
There is so little to do late summer in Arizona with a 20 month old and a 3 year old. Are schedules work around nap time so big trips around the valley are limited. Also, it's hard to justify paying full price for two hours at a museum or a children's center every weekend before they are about ready for a nap. When Faven is a tad older we will probably invest in a few annual passes to a few staples (i.e. zoo, children's museum, train park rides, ect.). But let's be real. We don't want to risk them sleeping in the car rather than in their beds and losing our two hours of no kid time in the middle of the day. Breaks are glorious. I don't know why more children activity centers around here don't open before 9am. Remember, we wake up around 6am. Our days are endless if we don't have an outing planned. Most splash pads around town don't even turn on until 10am! We still do our usual trips to the library for story time so at least we found one cool "go to" spot. It's the month of August when our creativity level runs low. These kids need more room to exert some energy. Beating the heat by getting to the park by 7am isn't an option anymore. It.is.just.too.hot!!!
Here we are at the splash pad Sunday morning.
