| One last picture at the end of the night with the family. |
Faven turns the big 0-1 on November 23, 2011. Can you believe it!? Our long, light weight (16 lbs), sweet baby is growing up right before our eyes. We celebrated Faven's happy and healthy year by throwing a little party with about 15 of our closest friends and family. My parents flew in from Pittsburgh to wish Faven a happy birthday! I'll talk more about their visit at a later date.
To get Faven in the spirit we sang happy birthday to her twice. But not exactly on purpose. We didn't realize Layla wasn't in the room the first time. Layla was happy to help Faven out by blowing out her #1 candle.

As a little surprise for Faven (mostly for Layla), we put up a castle made of cardboard. The kids had fun coloring it. The inside of the castle was decorated more than the outside. I wish I bought larger markers. The younger kids became frustrated that their coloring wasn't making a big impact on the 6 foot castle. Overall, it was a hit!

It was a great evening. Not exactly relaxing but it was fun! There is never a dull moment with multiple young kids. Even when throwing a small party, there is a lot to be done to prepare. We want our friends to know that we really appreciate their friendship and their love for our kids. They are a second family to us especially living so far away from our immediate family back East and in Ethiopia. I'm so glad my parents were here to help and, of course, celebrate Faven's big year! Happy 1st Birthday, Faven!
